CLEAN FASHION
September 2020
How can we make a planet first industry? Clean fashion looks at the current language and practices surrounding sustainability and weighs how we can change our systems to put sustainability first. The global pandemic has accelerated the urgent environmental response from the fashion industry.
In a series of digital talks, we looked at garment production, workers and delivery—the Image of Sustainability and the changing expectations of influencers, media and marketing. And finally, the afterlife and a concept of returning used clothing to brands.
DIGITAL DETOX
June 2020
On 12th June 2019, we created a space for independent creatives in the
fashion and art world to discuss how gender plays a part in mental health.
For a long time, the mainstream conversation around self-care has been
geared to women, with terms like ‘sisterhood’ coming to light and
campaigns and memes to help women better take care of themselves.
However, we must make the topic of self-care genderless and allow each
other to discuss the ‘elephant in the room’ topics affecting
fashion such as burnout, unfair pay, feelings, and trauma in a shameless environment to challenge our unconscious biases.

YEMZI GIRL TALK X COLÈCHI
February 2018
“More women than ever are starting their own businesses, but who can
they turn to for advice and counsel? ” – Kiera Abbamonte, March 2017
Colechi collaborated with Sustainable Street-Luxe Bohemian brand Yemzi
to host a self-love event for creative women just before Valentine’s day.
The West-African inspired brand celebrates entrepreneurial women on
their blog. The #YEMZIGIL is an ambitious independent woman who is
defining her path.
In Colechi style, we created break-out groups centred around sharing tips, exchanging positive energies and discussing being a creative woman.

BECOME A FASHION BRAND
February 2017 - February 2019
Become a Fashion brand is a series by Colechi which addresses the lack
of fashion education and issues sounding access for those that don’t have a background or existing network in the industry. BAFB explores multiple industry areas, highlighting the changing nature of fashion and insights into the future.
We launched with a four-part event series supported by
Makerversity. Initial topics included ‘Idea to execution’, Funding Fashion’, ‘Making Connections’ and Tech. More intimate sessions followed, looking more in-depth into how to exist in the industry.
